First cooperation between our chair and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory at the Master’s level

The Chair for Information Systems Research has been cooperating with the Microgrid Research Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California, since January 2014. As part of this cooperation, two Ph.D. students from the chair, Tobias Brandt and Sebastian Wagner, have each conducted a six-month research stay in Berkeley during the past year. Beginning with this month, Anna Schönbein is the first Master’s student to participate in the program and will work with the team in Berkeley on her Master’s thesis on Microgrids & Markets until December. Her project is supported by the FITweltweit program of the German Academic Exchange Service and the Energie-Reporter campaign of the Stiftung Energie & Klimaschutz Baden Württemberg. As part of the campaign, Anna will regularly post short video clips on her progress throughout the duration of her stay.

In the future, we hope that we can provide other motivated and promising students with the opportunity to write their final thesis in Berkeley as part of this cooperation. In that regard, this call for applications may be of interest, particularly to computer science students.
