Spin-off project Geospin successful at startup contests

Last week, Geospin, a spin-off project of our chair, was honored at the Startinsland contest and the Econauten 2015 contest. The team consists of four Ph.D. students from our chair (Johannes Bendler, Tobias Brandt, Niklas Goby and Sebastian Wagner) as well as Christoph Gebele from the Chair for Marketing and Health Care Management. The spin-off will offer business analytics methods for data-driven location planning that have been developed at the chair in recent years. At first, it will particularly focus on optimizing sustainable mobility services, such as carsharing, public transportation, and charging infrastructure for electric cars.

At the Startinsland contest, the concept of Geospin was honored with the third prize in the main category on Wednesday evening. Furthermore, the team could win over the jury of the special category Green Economy and received the runner-up award.

On Saturday, proceedings continued with the Econauten contest at the Grünhof Freiburg. Here, Geospin received the third prize, as well. The jury particularly commended the clear and detailed concept of the project.
