Cooperations

There exists a close cooperation with the following partner institutions or companies:

  • Deutsche Börse, Frankfurt
    Collaboration in the field of automated text analysis and investor sentiment. So far the department has gained comprehensive data. Where applicable, a project in the area of development of innovative information services is being considered.
  • IBM Germany Research & Development, Böblingen
    The collaboration with IBM extends into the areas of automated text analysis from Twitter data and in the field of public safety (Crime Information Platform).
  • National Institute of Informatics (NII), Tokyo
    With the NII exists a close cooperative relationship in the field of text mining and emergency management. Under the cooperation doctoral candidates attend the NII in Tokyo for several months.
  • University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney
    The Information Systems Research Chair cooperates with the Informatics faculty of UNSW in the field of Finance and Supercomputing. Under the cooperation doctoral candidates of the Faculty visit UNSW for a several month long research stay.
  • National University of Singapore, Singapore
    Close cooperation exists in the area of Cloud Computing and distributed infrastructures with the NUS. Also here several months of research visits by doctoral candidates in Singapore are provided. Under the cooperation the Chair of Information Systems received a real data set on the local data center.
  • Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta
    The team in Freiburg and the Center for Experimental Research in Computer Systems – CERCS in Atlanta are very strongly connected. There is a regular exchange between doctoral candidates of both institutions. In the last three years, several research contributions were created together with colleagues at Georgia Tech.
  • Barcelona Supercomputing Center
    The Barcelona Supercomputing Center houses one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Cooperation at the research level exists with the Center.
  • Interneg Research Center Montreal
    Prof. Dr. Dirk Neumann is for some time now a member of the Interneg Research Center in Montreal. The Center combines research in the field of negotiation and coordination mechanisms.
